FAIR MARKET VALUE

Prepared documents can range from short letters to voluminous reports containing many exhibits. Many reports are somewhere in the middle. The intended use of the valuation conclusions tends to dictate the necessary form of the valuation documents. Parties may have adverse financial interests, or may have an extremely adverse financial interests, as in the case of tax collecting authorities. While the intended reader might vary, the value conclusion would be the same, but the amount of documentation needed to persuade the reader as to the merits of the analysis could vary.
A verbal presentation of the conclusions of value is also an option.
"Fair Market Value" is defined as that amount, expressed in terms of money, that would exchange between a willing buyer and willing seller, with equity to both, neither being under compulsion to buy or sell, and both being fully aware of all of the relevant facts, as of a certain date.
